Same as the landing light in that its a brighter white and unlike the old taxi light I see the sides of the taxi way and not just the middle. An improvement for sure.

Nice bright white light. Much lower amperage than the bulb it replaced.

Drop in replacement for the PAR 36. Defiantly a Taxi Light, the Fresnel lense disperses the light horizontally, which is what you’d expect. I’m sure this in conjunction with a good landing light will make you that much more visible in the pattern or busy airspace as it is quite bright at a wider angle.

Q&A

Please note, Aircraft Spruce's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Q: Since those lights are PMAed for my airframe, can I install them under the provisions for preventative maintenance myself without having my A&P filing a 337 or signing off on them?

You will need to contact your A&P or local FAA office to determine if a 337 is required. You may want to contact Whelen directly and speak with their tech support to see if they can help.
