Product arrived as depicted/ priced for sale... regular shipping took 9 days (Mon thru Wed of following week) UPS requested clarification of my Ship : Town, State & Zip Code late 1st week for unknown reasons... which were noted as correct on original, intact Aircraft Spruce shipping label... this is the 1st apparent shipping delay in over 5 years of buying from your firm... will continue to do so... Q: What is the torque amount on bolts to attach this solenoid to aircraft?

We asked the manufacturer and they did not have any hard data available. The best answer we can give is "standard torque".

Q: Can you tell me which wires attach to which post i.e., on the smaller post on the front, does one go to a positive current switch and the other to a negative and if so which is which? Also on the power transfer lugs, is one preferred as the input and another as the output or are they interchangeable?

Either of the large studs can receive or transmit 100 amps; i.e., they are interchangeable; one small lug is for switched positive signal and the other small post goes to ground and as with the large lugs, the posts are interchangeable; i.e., current can be directed in either direction.

Q: Can I use a continuous duty selinoid for a starter relay?

Per the supplier: No, they cannot be interchanged or they will fail.

Q: Is this Lamar Solenoid 12V (X61-0028) suitable to be mounted to a metal battery box?

Per the supplier: Yes, it is externally grounded.

Q: Is there a recommended mounting position for this 12v Lamar solenoid? In other words, is there a top or bottom?

Per the supplier: Can be mounted in any position. Most are installed with the hat on top.

Q: Can this relay be used on certified aircraft?

No, the Lamar 12V solenoid (07-01875) is not FAA PMA approved for installation with a log book entry only. It can be installed in a certified aircraft with a 337 field approval.

Q: What is the weight of the LAMAR SOLENOID 12 VOLT CONTINUOUS (X61-0028)?

Approx 0.95 lbs.

Q: What size ring terminals are used for the large and small posts?

The front two terminal posts are 10-32 UNF-2A and the larger side posts are 55/16-24 UNF-2A terminal posts.

Q: I presume continuous means that the solenoid can be used as an isolator for the battery. It would be on the entire time the aircraft is running?

Yes continuous would be a Master/battery solenoid.

Q: What is the normal operating temperature of the unit, it feel hot when active, cant hold hand on it for very long.

The manufacturer does not have a specific temp range but it is normal for them to get quite hot during use.
