Safety Precautions

  • It is a good practice to avoid handling the Sidewinder off of the airplane with the battery installed. It is recommended that you install the sidewinder on the aircraft and then attach the battery.

  • Before detaching the Sidewinder from the aircraft be certain that the switch is in the locked (centered) position or, better yet, remove the battery. Always keep your hands away from the chains and sprockets.

  • Also, if the drill trigger should ever stick in the on position while the machine is in use, do not attempt to remove the battery! Immediately remove roller pressure from the tire.

The sidewinder is an awesome piece of kit! My hangar has a slight uphill on the apron and the sidewinder handles my bonanza with ease. One handed operation vs impossible one-person movement of my aircraft. Complete game-changer!

Some assembly needed which takes about 3 min. Remember to make sure that the Battery is fully charged. I did call the Mfg and they suggested leaving the battery on the charger when not in use. I like that you can vary the speed in both directions. If your plane is in the hanger on the first use, make sure that you start slowly so you are going in the right direction as there is no markings on the tool telling you direction. I have added with a Sharpie so I dont make that mistake. Could be very costly if your hanger is tight and you smash your tail into the back of the hanger on your first use. Remember to apply down pressure to the nose wheel or the gripping drive will just put a nice rub mark on the rubber. Right now this is only for my home hanger use so I dont need to add this to my useful load...about 20lbs. Once I start to carry all the time Ill get an exact weight. Overall I would say that this is money well spent. There are others out there that are cheaper but you will never be able to put them in your plane to travel with.

Bought for my Bonanza B36TC....works like a charm. However, you may need to modify the inserting lug that goes into the wheel due to cross bolt offset. Call factory and they will explain. Clean out wheel with 1 round sanding drum. Best piece of equipment I have bought in years. Handles my Bonanza easily up the incline into my hangar. Very impressive

This works well on our B-95 Travel Air. Before using, we highly recommend you get checked out by someone who already owns one. Other than a single piece of paper warning against connecting or disconnecting the device with the battery installed, there were no instructions provided at all. It is a very powerful device, and used incorrectly, you can do damage, or hurt yourself.

Q: What is the warranty period for the Redline Sidewinder Power Driver? Part # 13-06855

Per the supplier: "This product has a 5 year limited warranty. We have yet to have a mechanical issue with a Sidewinder product."

Q: Regarding Part # 13-06855: I have a 1978 Cessna 172N, Is this product compatible with my aircraft? Is so, will it work with wheel pants on?

Per vendor: Yes, this will work for a 1978 Cessna 172N. No, this will not work with the wheel pants on.

Q: I recently purchased the Sidewinder for moving my PA-32 Saratoga. i like it execpt the handle is so short that i have to bend over (beneath the prop spinner) to use it. i, thus, cannot see where i'm steering. Questions: Will purchasing an extender allow me to 'stand up' and have better visibilty while moving the aircraft? Is the extender bar easy to install? Can I readily install it myself? Does the extender bar negate the ability to use the carrying bag?

Per Redline: There should be no issue using the 15-inch extension P/N# 13-06856. It takes about 2 minutes to install it. As for fitting in the bag, you will have to remove the drill motor, which is easily done.

Q: It looks like this will be perfect for moving my Mooney ovation. Can the right angle drill be used by itself for home projects?

The drill can be used alone as a regular battery powered drill with the addition of a chuck available from the manufacturer.

Q: I have a PA-24-250 Comanche. Does the sidewinder attach via the two holes in the upper part of the nose gear casting or by the nosewheel axle?

This product will not fit a Piper Commanche. On compatible aircraft, it will attach to the lugs on the nosewheel.

Q: The description says a 15 extension is required for the Eclipse. Is that extension included in the price of part # 13-06861?

No, this does not come with he extension. You will need to purchase part # 13-06856 separately for the extension tube.

Q: Does the Redline Sidewinder come with a charger?

Yes, they come standard with a 110 volt charger and a battery.

Q: It appears that there is a bar for use with a twin Cessna. None of the reviews is from someone who has a twin. Can this move a 310 with full fuel?

Yes, this can be used with a Cessna 310 with its tanks full of fuel.

Q: What is the shipping weight of the Redline Sidewinder Power Driver?

Approx 27 lbs.

Q: The description makes it sound like this only works with retractable gear Cessnas. Will it also work with fixed gear? I have a 172M model.

No, the Cessna version will not work with fixed gear Cessnas.
