The MX170C NAV/COMM is designed to be electrically and mechanically interchangeable with the Bendix King KX170 & KX175 series of NAV/COMM radios. The channeling outputs are for 40-channel glide slope (King Glide Slope) and 200 channels (King Slip Code). |
This is the second MX170 C Radio I have purchased from Aircraft Spruce. It was the best price and delivered as promised. It’s a direct fit and works great.

TKM MX 170C NAV/COM REPLACEMEN
It is a really nice radio to replace the kx170b. The fact that it really is a slide in plug and play replacement is nice. You don’t need a shop visit.
TKM MX 170C NAV/COM REPLACEMEN
Ordered nav/com online and it was ready when I arrived. Store associate was friendly and helpful. Radio was installed per instructions and fired right up. Very happy with radio and service.

The radio dose not work so far. I have been in contact with the manufacturer and they are helping but it dose not work. I think I will have to send it back after trying the adjustments the Tec recommended. Still didn’t work. What a pain. Hopefully AS will cover the shipping to return the radio. I was really looking forward to this replacement for my old KX170, which still works by the way.

Prompt delivery and easy installation.
I had two problems when I installed the MX170C in my 1978 Mooney 201: 1-The old KX-175B was stuck, since it had not been removed from the panel since 1991. To pry it loose I had to remove the audio panel above the radio, the old LORAN to the right of the radio, and the other KX-175B below the radio. 2-The KX-175B and the MX170C require different size hex wrenches. Once I solved those problems, the MX170C went in easily and worked perfectly when I switched it on. I am very satisfied.
Having used coms with the frequency flip flop feature many times before I was a little disappointed with my new to me airplane having dinosaur KX 170s in both slots. After about a year living with them, and thinking I would have some panel upgrades done to several items at the same time, the Covid 19 thing has put dreams of a big upgrade on indefinite hold. I bit the MX 170 bullet and performed the install myself. It went surprisingly easy and took only about 10 minutes. The new MX 170 is performing great and I am so happy staging my next freq for when I need it with a push of the button! Little things like this spread out the workload and really help make flying more fun.
Radio arrived on time and in good condition, was exactly as advertised and works perfectly. Very easy install and no surprises. Very happy with purchase, product, and service.

This is a replacement for the King KX 170 & 175 series Nav/Coms and the CDI you used with the King will work with the TKM 170C. Otherwise the TKM MC-60 is the only one TKM recommends.
No, the only version TKM makes is for the 14 volt replacement for the KX 170 & 175 series.
As this is a direct slide in replacement for King KX 170- and 175 series Nav/Coms, the Michel MX 170 would support the same glide slope indicators. This is a new unit.
The manufacturer’s warranty is 2 years for the MX170C Nav/Com radio.
Yes the MX170C is a direct slide-in replacement for the KX170-B. This will hook right up with the existing equipment in the aircraft that the KX170-B is hooked up to without any additional installation.
Per the manufacturer, the MX170C will automatically dim dependent upon ambient light conditions. The sensitivity can be adjusted using the trim pot located on the front panel.
This unit does not include a tray or connectors. These are sold as drop in, plug and play replacements. Trays and connectors are only available on the used market.
There was a transducer changed in the MX170B to meet new European standards, after changing the transducer TKM had to update the model number to MX170C to be in compliance with FAA standards.
Per the manufacturer a logbook entry can suffice but we recommend talking to your A&P to process any paperwork accordingly.
