These were purchased to reduce the current draw from the original Whelen wingtip Nav/Strobes on my Rotax powered Ultravia Pelican PL. The 912ULS has only an 18 amp alternator, and the old strobe power paack and halogen lights consumed over half of that. The Microburst Plus LED set uses only a fraction of that. Great product for Rotax powered experimentals.
WHELEN MICROBURST PLUS KIT III MB3K
Great navigation and LED strobes for Light Sport use. Full 360 visibility and no RI which I had with other LED lights.
Very overpriced no installation bolts included with kit Lights are very bright good quality

Per supplier: It needs power but notes say Self-contained (no external power supply needed). Basically an additional power supply is not needed. You can hook it straight into aircraft power.
The Microburst series does NOT have TSO approval. If you want a certified product then you will need to look at the ORION series. We offer it on our website, keyword search "Whelen Orion" to locate them.
This kit is sold as a pair. One for each side.
I attached the Whelen Aviation product warranty sheet to the web page under the "Documents" tab. Please review it there.
The ampere draw for the Whelen Microburst III, part number 11-08473, is as follows: .66 amps for position lights and 1.2 amps for anti collision light.
The nav and strobe lights have separate power leads available. Typically these are wired in a two switch configuration.
The direct replacement for the A600 series is the Whelen Orion 600 series.
No, shielded wiring is not required.
Yes, these kits have rear facing white nav lights.
Per Whelen: It does not meet the requirements for the coverage and light outputs for 91.205 night flight operations. The Orion series does meet those requirements.
