Aero Classic makes a standard tube and a leakguard tube. I have seen quite a few problems with their standard tubes but I have never seen one with the leakguard tube. I just looked at my quick books program and in the last 10 years I have installed 24 of the 6.00-6 leakguard inner tubes and 8 of the 5.00-5 tubes. I have never had an inner tube failure on a clients airplane. My advice is to make sure you are buying a Leakguard inner tube and avoid their standard tubes.

Saw the low rating, thought Id add my 2 cents. We have run these (6.00-6) for many years in 3 Cessna 185 amphibs and have had fantastic service from them. We take them out of service when the tire is worn out, probably 600 hours or so, and have only seen one failure at a valve stem. I certainly understand the frustration of others poor experience but ours has been great. I recommend these to all the folks we deal with.

These tubes rock. I put them on my Comp Air 6 and I havent had to add any air in a year. Most other tubes you have to top off about every three months.
As it says in the instructions, recheck pressure the next day after initial installation because the air trapped between the tire and tube will bleed off. After that they just dont leak.
Well worth the slight extra cost over standard tubes.

Not much I can really say, its an inner tube. It fit without issue, was well packaged and I hope it will give me at least 7 years of service like the last one. The construction seems to be much thicker than my old one so that should help.

I replaced my old tubes when I replaced my tire back at annual (about 100 hours ago). Ive found these tube to need and AIR refill about the same as my old tubes - once a month I have to add about 5-10lbs. (Cessna 182RG, calls for 68PSI) I keep my plane in a hanger in central Florida. I was hoping to be able to go longer without refill based on some of the other reviews I read. But the quality of the tubes themselves was excellent.

Purchased these retread tires for a 182 RG. The Cessna manual specifically warns against using retreads due to potential fouling in the gear wells. The owner and a well know managed maintenance company still wanted to try them. Both tires rubbed on the gear well lips and about 1/4 inch had to be trimmed to make adequate clearance. On fixed gear planes the value of retreads is good and they provide long service life, however be sure to check for adequate clearance when using them on retractable gear airplanes.

I run an MRO and have used these tubes for years without problems until this month. I too experienced the pinhole in the side wall. I think that low air pressure could contribute to this problem along with not using enough talc when installing. We have literally installed 100s of these over the years and have only seen a few failures.

July 24, 2021
The TR-67 valve stem on this tube does not have a straight 90 degree bend like the old one with the same part number had. It has a radius bend before the straight part that come through the grommet in the wheel. This extra bend causes the stem to put stress on the grommet which, I suspect, will cause it to wear prematurely.
I attempted to contact product support regarding this and left several messages, but no one ever returned my calls.

Had replaced nose tire and tube on our 182 and used a leakguard tube. Got a flat away from our home airport, pinhole in sidewall. Replaced it Oct of 18 with a new leakguard tube. 2-7-20 got another flat away from home airport and you guessed it, a pinhole leak with more looking like they were not far behind. Tire is good and tire talc was used both times. Looking at buying another brand tube and trying it out.

I have installed 2 of these tubes on the nose wheel of my Piper Warrior and both have developed pin holes on the side wall with no apparent puncture through the tire. The first only made it 30 days. The second made for 3 months. But had 2 large holes and was cracking along the same lines all on the middle of the side wall. Would not recommend.

These WILL develop a pin holes after a very short time and leave you with a flat unexpectedly. I thought maybe it was a bad batch or something so I tried another order and same thing happened.

I have used these for years, on my personal aircraft, my company aircraft and my clients aircraft. In the last three years I have had 6 failures in 6.00x6 LeakGuards due to either pin holes in the sidewalls or failed seams. The manufacturing process has changed and the quality control is not there, I will not buy another one or recommend them to customers. Aircraft Spruce Customer Service has not been particularly helpful in replacing the defective tubes or resolving the issues with them.

Never again. This is the second Aero Classics tube that has failed on my antique airplane that is flown often with meticulous attention paid to tire pressure, tire condition, wheel condition, etc. This failure was a pin hole opposite the valve stem. I own three vintage taildraggers that fly all the time - my daily driver flies 100+ hours per year. I cant risk a high value vintage airplane over a poorly made inner tube. Just ordered six Michelin Airstops from Aero Performance - all the Aero Classics junk is going in the trash where it belongs.

Another pinhole failure report for Aero Classic Leak-Guard 6.00-6. It lasted 3.4 years (and 137h TT). No crease in the pinhole location. I contacted Desser via online chat but they would not acknowledge there is a quality issue. All they offered me was a $20 discount on a new one. Pathetic.
Interestingly, my nose wheel had a Leak-Guard and failed the same way 4.7 years ago. I replaced it with a different brand.
So Im changing both my mains for a different brand.
PS. I never write reviews but decided this is a safety issue.

I replaced both tires and tubes on my Stinson three years ago and both have failed due to the same pin hole flaws in the sidewalls. I use 700x6 tubes and got two replacements from a friend and both failed with the same flaws in the sidewall. They were all stamped with the date: Feb 2013. I suggest you avoid this brand tubes.

A&P mechanic here. Over the last 2 years Ive had 4 of these tubes fail on my customers airplanes. All had small pinholes/cracks in the sidewall. Its as if these things become brittle. Ill never buy again and I have warned my customers to steer clear.

Just had 500-5 AeroClassic Tube go flat on the nosewheel of my Cardinal RG. Installed 2-2013 and 500 hrs ago & probably that many landings. Inspection revealed pin hole leak on side wall with several more developing along the sidewall. Held air well over the years but disappointing to see it fail like this.
