Approved for FAA Certified Part 23 Aircraft and Part 27 and 29 Rotorcraft All iFDR Panel Mounts from Guardian Avionics are approved for installation in certified aircraft and rotorcraft under 14 CFR Part 23, 27 and 29 as "Non-Required Safety Enhancing Equipment" (NORSEE) as outlined in FAA memorandum number PS-AIR-21.8-1602. Mounts and power supplies may be installed as a minor alteration.

    The iFDR Panel Mount for iPad Mini was designed by aerospace engineers to perform in the unique environment of the cockpit. The spring actuated mounting cradle securely holds the iPad in place during the roughest of turbulence. The clean, flush mount has a shallow chassis allowing it to be easily installed in even the smallest of instrument panels. Built-in ports for the Apple Lightning plug and a 3.5mm audio cable help keep cables safely and securely positioned behind the panel, allowing you the ability to connect to power, data, and audio without the cord mess.

    As they are being used, iPads generate heat that can affect performance -- resulting in a high-temperature shut down when you might need it most! Pilots have found this out the hard way when using a temporary mounting solution like Velcro to attach their unit to the instrument panel. The iFDR Panel Mount was designed with cooling in mind. Each mount has a 5/8" tapered hose / tube port built-in, allowing you to attach it to a standard avionics cooling fan. Each panel mounting tray features cooling channels to circulate air behind your iPad to keep it cool even under the heaviest of use.

    The iFDR Panel Mount is designed for easy installation in your panel. Each durable molded ABS plastic unit is self-contained and mounts with only four screws. Our installation drawings give you the exact panel cutout details and screw positions in either PDF or AutoCAD DXF for precise cuts. The iFDR Panel Mount for iPad Mini requires a 7.834" long and 5.679" high panel cutout and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

Item shipped and was delivered in very good time. It was as advertised. There were no drawings or dimensions included. The drawing, from the manufacturers website were accurate, but puzzling -- in so much as they werent even dimensions in either millimetres, inches or fractions of inches - rather they were given in 3 decimal place detail but apparently somewhat random?? With careful measuring and laying out, the opening and mounting holes can be properly located.

Very very bad conception : a little Connector Db 15 hard to weld (same dimension as a db9 but a 15 wires format to weld), plus a was forced to cut a bigger hole to permit to the cable to move...

Q: Is the power cable included?

No, this part number does not include those items. You will need 13-20270 which includes all wiring and connectors.

Q: Hi I’m wondering does this mount take the largest iPad mini 5 ? And when was this bracket released to the market ? I know the older bracket from 2017 wont take the new mini 5 thanks

Per the manufacturer this will work with the ipad mini 1-5. (All generations).

Q: Has this been shown to work with the iPad Mini 6 yet? Does the Mini 6 fit in it as tightly as the 5 does?

Per the manufacturer, this mount works with all iPad Minis Generations 1-6. The Mini 6 may be slightly less tight than the 5 due to its smaller size.
