Compact GPS/Navigation Data Interface Adapter
This compact GPS/navigation data adapter, when installed with the GTN 750 or GTN 650 series or legacy GNS 530 or GNS 430 navigators, can enable such advanced features as GPS steering, WAAS LPV vertical approach guidance, HSI map navigation, coupled VNAV and more for access via your compatible flight display system. The ARINC 429 interface is the most commonly used data bus for high-end general aviation and commercial aircraft. The GAD 29 module leverages this network interface to offer an affordable way for pilots flying experimental/LSA aircraft to expand the capabilities of their avionics — and access the latest and best in IFR capabilities from their GTN or GNS series GPS navigators. |
Very quick delivery to Sweden!
Note that only the GAD29B is for use with certified GA aircraft. The non-B (less expensive) model is for use with experimental only. The first FAQ is incorrect in this respect.
Hard to give a star rating for the GAD29b since it did not work for me. It would not link a Garmin 305 Autopilot to the Garmin 496. A failure of Garmin to communicate clearly what it will and will not do. Im sure it works great with the devices that it will communicate with. Planning to return it to Aircraft Spruce. No problems with Aircraft Spruce and they always delivered what I requested in the time frame promised.
Please note, Aircraft Spruce's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Yes, our part # 11-15425 is FAA PMA approved for use in certified aircraft. Please keep in mind the GAD 29 does not interface to a 3rd pilot autopilot. If autopilot interface is required, please see the GAD 29B.
This page allows you to select either the GAD 29 or the GAD 29B.
If you do not need the Garmin G5 to provide heading information to your autopilot or obtain NAV data from the GNS 530, you do not need the GAD 29B.
If the G5 is a top mount, then you will not need the gad 29b since it is only attitude information. If you do a bottom placement and you want the G5 as an HSI unit with NAV data and the capability for autopilot you will need the GAD 29B, otherwise the G5 will be a directional gyro.
The GAD 29B does not come with a connector kit, please use connector kit part number 11-11455.
If you just want to share the WAAS/GPS information from the GA35, to the G5's and GDL82, you can connect the two units via the RS-232 connection.
The spacing dimension is Width 2.352 x Length 5.60.
You can install a Garmin G5 to interface with the Century 21 if you a GAD 29B.
Per the manual: The GAD 29/29B should be mounted to a surface known to have sufficient structural integrity to withstand additional inertial forces imposed by the 0.63-pound unit.
A 5 amp breaker is recommended for the GAD 29B.
