Q: Does the EI CGR-30P-6-P come with all senders (RPM, EGT/CHT, Fuel flow, others)?
The CGR30P-6-P allows for 6 primary engine functions and the 6 you select will come with the required probes.
Q: For the EI CGR-30, can the user program alarms in addition to the required manufacturer-2957; limits? For example, I'd like a lower CHT alarm than the Cessna red line for my 182.
While the CGR-30 Primary Engine Monitor can technically be programmed to have a custom lower alarm limit for CHT, EI is bound to go by the limits set forth in the POH of your aircraft. The user cannot themselves, program this.
Q: Can the EI CGR-30 be configured to pick up GPS information from a handheld like a Garmin Aera 500?
Per EI, the CGR-30 can be configured to work with may portable GPS's such as the Aera 500. Please state which model you have when you at the time of order to ensure the correct cable is included.
Q: Can the CGR-30 basic show fuel pressure as a primary on the main screen?
Per EI, the CGR-30 cannot show fuel pressure as a primary on the main screen.
Q: Is it possible to download the engine parameters to a computer, to check engine malfunctions and keep data records?
CGR-30P records engine information from 1 to 3 times per second. You can insert a USB stick and download all of your engine information and view it on your computer with a spreadsheet program such as excel.
Q: Does installation of the CGR-30 allow for removal of the fuel gauges as a primary replacement?
As the CGR-30 is a primary replacement instrument. You would not need to keep your original fuel gauges.
Q: Can the flight log be reset or turned off?
Per the manufacturer: No, FAA regulations state that engine monitoring systems can not be reset or turned off.
Q: Is there a way to connect a second CGR-30 display for a tandem seat?
The CGR-30 does support this if you have two displays.
Q: What does the CGR-30P-4-B have in the box when it arrives?
Thanks.
The Basic package, part number 10-05428 comes with the unit, the senders used for the functions which are displayed and the wiring harness needed to install the unit.
Q: What is included with the CGR-30P-4-B, does that include the fuel flow sensor?
Yes, part number 10-05428 comes with the fuel flow sensor.
Q: The main description and worksheet say 5 primary functions. Is it 5 or 6 primary functions?
The CGR-30, part number 10-05428 comes with 5 primary functions and 5 non primary functions for a total of 10.
Q: If I do an installation using my existing resistive fuel probes can I change to magnetic probes later?
Per the manufacturer: Yes, you can switch to magnetic probes after installing resistive probes. Minor electrical work is required to make the switch.
Q: When purchasing a CGR-30P, can the tach time hours be placed at the same time in service hours as the current factory analog tach has that is in the airplane? I do not want to start the 30P at zero(0) time while the airplane has xxxxhrs on the airframe.
Yes. When filling out the order form, there is a place to notate current hours and the instrument will be set to engine hours.
Q: Are the RPM, EGT, and CHT considered part of the five functions on the CGR-30P-4-B or is it these 3 plus 5.
The CGR-30P-4-B does not include any additional functions. Only the premium package allows for options other than the standard probes.
Q: I am not interested in any fuel related parameters. Can I use a 30P and not install, or configure, the instrument for any fuel data? I'm interested in RPM, MP, EGT, CHT, OP, Oil T, Volts, and Amps only.
Yes, please indicate on the order form that you do not require fuel data.
Q: Where does the USB stick plug in to the EI CGR-30P engine monitor system?
Per EI, the unit has a dongle that hangs below the connector on the back of the unit. This piece can be mounted to the panel if so desired.
Q: The CGR30P-4-P comes with 6 primary functions. My question is if I choose EGT and CHT, it means that comes with 4 egt probes, 4 cht probes, Oil pressure probe, Oil temp probes, RPM and Manifold pressure probes?
Yes, that is correct.
Q: To display amps, do I need to order the -P or can amps be displayed on the -B?
The -b will only display: rpm, fuel flow, egt/ cht bar graph, fuel remaining, volts, oat, tach time, local time, zulu time, flight timer, fuel used for the flight, fuel used since fill-up and all gps/fuel flow data. For other measurements, the -p will be required.
Q: What is CGR-30P displays viewing angle? we are running out of dashboard real estate right from the front of pilot (parallel seated pilots).
Per EI - If the CGR display is not installed within 8" of the pilots visual centerline, the external Master Caution and Warning Lights should be installed.
Q: CGR-30P-4-P has 5 primary and 5 non-primary functions. Does this mean that the 5 non-primary functions chosen such as Volts and Amps cannot be used in lieu of analog instruments? If these two functions are chosen as non-primary, would I have to keep the analog volt/amp meters?
Per EI. - since volts and amps are non-primary functions you will still have to keep your existing volt & amp gauges installed.
Q: Can the CGR30P be configured with temperature functions in degree Celsius?
Yes. The temperature read out will need to be specified at time of order.
Q: What is the back lighting source on the EI CGR-30 engine monitor system? If it fails, will I have a blank screen?
The backlighting is integrated in the screen. If backlighting fails, then the screen will be blank.
