I needed to replace a DC H13.4 that I had for nearly 20 years. I first purchased a Bose A20. After a week of use I had to return it. Although comfortable around the ears and excellent noise reduction, the cons (for me) far outweighed the pros. Its made of plastic and doesnt feel durable, there was a wire under the headband that created a pressure point on the top of my head. The mic boom was too long and annoying constantly getting it to sit in front of my mouth, and most significantly, the volume of the Altitude alerter was deafening. I dont know why the Bose amplified this volume so much, but it was more than I could bear. Also, Bose customer service was horrendous in my experience. So I returned it for the DC One X. Im very pleased with the One X. Its made of metal and feels like a more durable product, It is very comfortable, but it does clamp slightly more than the Bose. Its noise reduction is excellent however not as good as the Bose. The mic boom fits perfectly. The ear seals and head band are comfortable. The volume of the Altitude alerter is comfortable. Its made in the USA which is also a plus. Cons of the One X for me: the headset bag is cheap, the bluetooth module cant be dimmed for low light environment (but I just use tape to cover the light), and its not available in an XLR plug so Im stuck using batteries. I would recommend the DC One X over the Bose A20 if youre researching between the two.

Great headset. I like the way they cup my ears and have good PNR. The active noise canceling is great and these are easy to wear because they’re light weight. The headset bag is a bit flimsy. I think tougher nylon could have been used. Solid David Clark Headset!

Very happy with the DC One-X! Super quiet, lightweight, and comfortable. The earcups fit over my ears perfectly.
What is really impressive is its size when folded up in the flight bag. It needs about half the space! I think I need a smaller flight bag now :) These are hard to get, and many thanks to Aircraft Spruce for coming through.

I am super happy with the quality and performance of this headset. One headset has ruled this market for too long and doesnt seem to care to improve their design. I bought this headset with hopes of not only supporting an American company but also having a more comfortable fit especially around the ears. I am very impressed with the comfort around the ears and on top of my head. Deeper ear seals and better hinge location makes them superior to my other sets. The sound quality is also impressive. I have to have my music and it sounds great! I also love that it folds into itself for compact storage. The bag that it comes with is also superior. Tough material, compact, and includes two zipper pockets with a soft lining in both. The controller face is higher quality with a rubber finish over the buttons. Also it comes with a cradle that can be mounted in the aircraft. Im already recommending this set to all of my friends. I just cant wait to disassemble one and install it in my helmet.

Long-time DC user and first-time ANR headset owner. Got them to celebrate finishing a complex endorsement and starting my instrument rating. Two flights and some time spent around the house in them. These are fantastic. Incredibly comfortable. And as small as the headset bag is, there is still room in it for nearly a second headset. ANC works well and it connects to my iPhone and iPad very easily. So far, no complaints at all! Spent about an hour on a phone call with them (on the ground) and the other caller said he heard me just fine.

I had been a David Clark passive headset user for forty-three years when I finally decided to go the ANR route. I did take a thorough look at competitors products but decided to go with DC. I dont regret that decision.
The improvement in noise reduction was as expected, but what surprised me was the improved clarity in reception.
Incidentally, the H-10-30 headset I bought in 1978 is still in use. I expect it to outlast me.

After borrowing a ONE-X from a friend for a test flight, I decided to invest in one for my wife so that she might enjoy flying a bit more. Wow...its very comfortable and it works great. The Bluetooth function synchs up easily with her iTunes so she can listen to her playlist with stereo sound quality that surpassed our expectations. I have two other David Clark headsets that perform well and have held up incredibly well over many years, so that was another reason for my choosing this brand over others.

Very good headset! Very comfortable with great noise canceling. Two minor issues that I have seen are: the way the headrest fold makes it very compact but does make it hard to wrap the cables around the headset and makes it even harder to rest the headset on the yoke of the plane. 2 the boom for the mic is just a bit too short for me, it isn’t able to get to the center of my lips where I am used to having the mic

I use this headset in my otherwise noisy 7EC Champ. Noise suppression and comfort are excellent. The Bluetooth connection to my phone is stable. The ability to fold the headset into a small volume is useful. The instructions and other printed material that were packed with the headset are minimal, clear and sufficient.

Purchased the DC One-X to try in various aircraft and compare to the Bose A-20 headset. Overall I like both headsets. I find the One-X may be more durable and has better passive noise reduction (in case the batteries die). It has a slightly higher clamping pressure, though not uncomfortable ( I have not worn it for longer than a two hour flight yet). The One-X allows more low freq. (engine rumble) to be heard. The A-20 is quieter because it cancels more low freq. noise. Both headsets performed well in a stock 220 HP Stearman, Cub, and RV-4.
I will use the One-X in open cockpit / door aircraft and as a travel headset to use temporarily in different aircraft, because of its durability and small folded up size. Ill use the A-20s in closed cockpit aircraft when I dont care about hearing the engine.
There was a cable quality issue with the first One-X purchased and Aircraft Spruce replaced it under the 30 day return policy. The replacement performs perfectly.

My second DC One-X (first pair is now used by copilot). My other headset is a Bose A20. I fly two airplanes, both with Rotax 912 engines. Hard to tell any difference in active noise reduction or overall comfort/convenience between the two. Excellent headset and excellent value.

Ive been flying for 30 years using DC headsets and never felt so comfortable and had such clear communications. This headset is so light its like its not there. The Twin Otter pushes the limits of its noise cancelling but still the battery life and blue tooth are amazing. Im working in the Maldives and we fly 1000 hours a year per Captain. Best investment ever.

To anyone on the fence about upgrading, do it. The best way to describe how quiet the engines are is to say that youre in your house with the windows closed and someone down the road is knowing their lawn. Higher pitched sounds come through a bit better (I notice the AC Fan now) I find it super comfortable as well.

I tried this headset at Airventure 2018 and it worked great on the ground in the noisy environment there. I ordered it after I returned from the airshow and have been happy with the headset. It doesnt clamp to my head, it stays cool on hot days, and the battery life seems to be very good. The ANR is great and even when the ANR is off, the noise reduction is great!

Great headset! Ive used David Clark headsets for over 35 years. My only regret is waiting so long to upgrade to the ANR version. They are comfortable and incredibly clear sounding. I was very hesitant spending big bucks on a headset. I had a pair of QC15/ UFlymike Bose anr but was getting tired of the and barely keeping up (occasional cutout). I borrowed a set of Zulu 2 and A20 and knew I loved the anr and the reduced noise. But couldnt wrap my head around spending over a grand. I read some reviews on the D.C. OneX and they were all positive, (and slightly cheaper). So I bit the bullet and gave the D.C. a try......these things are awesome. After wearing them for a few weeks and on a couple three hour+ legs, Im kicking myself for not buying them sooner. They are much lighter feeling than the Zulu and slightly lighter feeling than the A20. No head squeezing sensation but sound reduction is amazing. Bluetooth works flawlessly so far and easy to pair. I will eventually buy another set for passenger and I cant imagine my friends wont buy after trying mine out. 5 stars!! ... and they fold up nicely. Which just makes it nice. Not much else to say.... they are the real deal for about 20% less than competitors. And Made in the USA.

I was using the Bose X headsets. The flimsy wishbone broke that holds the ear cup. I figured I would try a pair of Clarks. I am glad I did. The noise canceling is far superior to that of Bose, and the construction is much stronger as well(but still light). thriw in $300 less than Bose, stronger, better and superior customer service, it becomes an easy decision. And did I mention made in the 🇺🇸.

I own 2 Bose ANR headsets and the construction quality of the David Clark DC one X is far superior. The forks holding the ear cups on are solid and well engineered, unlike the Bose that break and only Bose can replace them for a mere $250. I wont buy another Bose. I love the audio quality, head clamp force, and Bluetooth set-up, and especially the price on the David Clark DC One X. I like the volume adjust on the One X, It stays where you set it. I dont accidentally bump roller wheels changing the volume like on the Bose.

I have a Cessna 182S and needed an updated headset, to supplement the Old David Clark that I have had, along with my spare Sigtronics headset. When I got the X-One, put in the batteries and fired it up....WOW! A significant noise reduction when compared to my old David Clark! (Could have used this back when I towed Banners!) The X-One is light and very comfortable. I dont think I will have a need for the blue tooth feature as my new Garmin 750 nav/audio package will have that there also. But aside from that, the headset is first rate. So. I am buying another one! Now I will have 4 headsets for the plane and the folks up front get the X-ones! $200 cheaper than the Bose and I think that alone is a reason to look at the David Clark..

November 26, 2016
I have owned David Clark headsets for over 40 years...... Have always used the PNR noise reduction 13.4s they always worked very well an never a problem...... I decided to move up to the ARN noise reduction head set when the One Xs came out ....... I have tried Zulu & Bose just so a had a point of reference to get a taste of ANR Active noise reduction........ I just had my first flight with the David Clark one-X. I am a 20yr AirForce Vereran thats all we used while on active duty......... Have to say they are simply AMAZING! When you first pick them up you can feel the build quality an light weight. The leather memory foam ear seals feel like pillows on your ears I put them on ..... They felt very light with no excessive clamping force....... I did my engine run up without the ANR on ...sounded just like the 13.4s then I engaged the ANR WOW! I could still here the engine but just seemed very faint I actually had to go into my radio settings an re-adjust my side tone way to loud. And re-adjust my squelch as well.... Iam thinking of all those years with all that extra noise in my ears...... With the passive noise reduction I was getting the ringing in my ears after a long flights 2-3 hours or more.... The blue tooth is super easy to link up with your phone or tablet an the sound quality of the music was really impressive sounds like high dollar Stero headsets ...an the batterys 2 AA Last over fourty hours .....With the One-Xs they have even improved the Passive noise reduction as well! Have to say David Clark really has a winner Here! Bose & Zulu really have some competition on there hands! If your reading this review this is not in any way a paid review I just wanted to give my unbiased true opinon of this head set. So if your on the fence I highly recommend this head set you will not be dispointed! And with Spruce you have thirty days to try them out...... Once you fly with them you will be sold......... Happy flying from one happy pilot! 👍🏻🇺🇸😎✈️

Great headset, a bit expensive but I think worth every penny. Passive NR seems great, and Active NR is fine despite white noise we hear when its active, that is compensated by the aircraft engine noise reduction.
