I bought wood for soundboards to use in ukulele construction. Wood is supurb for that. As good as you can get from Luthier Supply Houses and much much cheaper. Promp fulfillment and shipping too. Im thinking of ordering more before the word gets out!

Even with shipping cost more than the product, I was so pleased at the quality. I can’t stop staring at the pieces! Gorgeous! If they were 7.5 inches wide I would resaw for guitar tips. My complaint - most of the pieces were 1 cm thick, not thick enough for guitar back and x bracing. But did I mention that it’s gorgeous? I have enough high quality bracing for the rest of the top braces for a batch of eight guitars I’m building. I definitely will order again and hope my request for thicker stock might be heard. Having said that, what they give you will please the fussiest builder. Thanks so much!

I am a luthier- and this is a steal. It’s honestly criminal how good the wood is and how cheap it is. Clear and tight grain, on a bargain. Good for soundboards, bracing and even necks. I will buy again for sure.

It is what it is...A Real Bargain of some fine spruce wood

Im a model builder and most of what I prefer to build would be called stick and tissue/silkspan type models from scratch. This Bargain Bag of Spruce is truly a BARGAIN. I have a precision micro saw and I cut the spruce down to 3/16 square or even a little small at times for the models. The grain is amazingly straight and tight. I generally do not use balsa for spars and longerons as I prefer the strength of spruce with very little added weight. One box will produce hundreds and hundreds of strips. I wish I could buy balsa this way but I have nothing. I bought 3 boxes so far and ever one was OUTSTANDING.

Great bag of spruce

A great value. I was expecting more random lengths but almost the entire 40# was in 4 lengths and a good mix of width and thicknesses. I am starting to build small musical instruments and this will be perfect as well as for other craft projects.

Very nice stuff, measured out at 0.45 gms/cm^3 and 12 GPa. Right on the money. I’m using it for guitar bracing. Widest board was 7”, quarter sawn and perfect for small instrument tops. Better quality than bracing wood bought through the usual luthier supply houses.

I assumed out of 25 pounds of wood, I would get some useable and mostly knotted ends of scrap. Not the case...absolutely everything is usable in some way and out of the whole batch, only three small pitch pockets easily worked around. Some nice large, 1” thick boards and all the way down to a little 1x1-1/4x 1’. Very happy

A few hours after I ordered I got a nice call asking me if I was OK with high UPS shipping charge for this bundle. Trust me, you want this! When I saw and opened the huge box and great mix of wood inside I was thrilled. I was intending to using this for my RC airplane models but I also do general woodworking and much of this will also find a role in projects I didnt expect. Thank you!

I also am a luthier and was just looking for supplies for random bracing and repair. I was pleasantly surprised but the quality of what I received. All but one of the smaller boards was cut on the quarter and had tight grain. I can even see using some of this for primary tone wood for tops.

Im giving this 5 stars because the wood you receive is aircraft grade and usable in home building aircraft. I tend to find that these bargain bags are always filled with a nice selection of different stock and any blemishes in the wood (so far) have been circled in pencil so that the builder is aware of them. Ive so far been able to find a use for all of it. I made corner blocking, rib stock, uprights and a few other odds and ends for my plane from a single bargain bag. From now on when I order wood from ACS, Ill always order a bargain bag with it. It is very useful.

I have been a modeler of historical ships as well as full sized sailing dinghies, a canoe and an Adirondack guide boat for 85 of my present 95th year age. and was a member of the Nautical Research Guild. I have used cutoffs of your Aircraft Spruce Co.s. spar cutoffs and you should do ad,s with N.R.G. I quarter spars a bit over-sized lengthwise and epoxy 2 pieces hollow curves together & resulting spars stay straight!!

I bought 4 Bags of Spruce and everyone was a very generous 20lb+ box. Because of the size and weight, shipping may seem a little pricey, but I think it was still well worth it. Every single piece will be usable for my model building. The quarter sawn lumber has a very tight, straight grain. Using my new precision micro table saw, I produced great 1/8 square strips. I can not say enough about this item. Outstanding!
