Stratus 3 is the simple-to-use, portable wireless receiver that provides subscription-free weather, GPS information, backup attitude and ADS-B traffic — integrated with ForeFlight Mobile for your iPad, and now including GDL 90 protocol to work with other flight apps.

Stratus 3 includes a dual band (978 MHz and 1090 MHz) receiver so it can display traffic information. See relative altitude, climb/descent rate and projected track. ADS-B traffic is limited unless your aircraft is equipped with ADS-B Out Note: AHRS data provided by Stratus should be used for supplemental purposes only. Stratus is not certified for IFR operations.

WAAS GPS unlocks track up and terrain

With the built-in WAAS GPS receiver, Stratus allows you to view moving maps, track up displays and high-resolution terrain maps in ForeFlight Mobile. The smart GPS locks on fast and typically provides 1 meter accuracy. 8-hour battery

Even with all these features, Stratus remains totally wireless. With its 8-hour battery life, you can fly all day without bringing along a charging cable. Just turn on Stratus and go flying. Designed, tested and built in the USA

Unit is iOS friendly, not Android. Could not pair with iFly GPS until wife downloaded Stratus app and turned on the Open ADS-B. Unit immediately paired and works great. Looks like this function should default to Open.

I received the new Status 3 about a week ago and yesterday was the first time I flew with it. I flew form Oahu to Maui and back (three hours total flight time). The ADS-B performed flawlessly. I would have liked to use it a few times more before I rated it, but for now I gave it 5 stars. This ADS-B was actually a replacement unit for one which I had purchased form a competitor. That unit overheated and shut down in mid flight after two to three hours of continuous operation. They wanted that I ship it back to Stratus and have them trouble shoot. After pending $700 no way was I going to send product back to manufacturer for warranty after just using it twice. They offered to refund my money, so I accepted that. I actually ended spend a bit more here for the same ADS-B then I did at the other shop. The other shop offered product with free shipping and no tax. I got the ADS-B with no free shipping charge through Aircraft Spruce, but I paid taxes on the item. Oh well, I hope the ADS-B works out well.

Per Appareo: Yes. The free weather will work with the Stratus 3 ADS-B in Canada.

Q: Does the subscription free weather work in Panama and Costa Rica?

The Stratus 3 (11-14468) will not get weather in Panama or Costa Rica as no ADS-B IN is available.

Q: Will this Stratus 3 fulfill the ads-b requirement for 2020 or is certified equipment required in 2020?

This unit provides ADS-B In only. The 2020 mandate is for ADS-B Out requiring aircraft to be equipped.

Q: Will Stratus 3 work with Avare app for Android?

Per the manufacturer, at this time there is no compatibility with this app.

Q: Does Stratus 3 allow me to share with my copilot or other users in the aircraft?

Yes. In fact, every iOS device running ForeFlight Mobile in the cockpit can connect to Stratus at the same time.

No, this will not work with the Garmin Pilot app. For the Garmin Pilot, you will need the GDL 50 or GDL 52.
