Monadnock Clip Nut 8-32, 130007 |
Its fine
Exactly what I needed and delivered before I expected it.
I find the Monadnock is less high where the spring clip bends back on itself relative to the similar Tinnerman. Unless you have thick metal that you are sliding the clip nut over, the Monadnock might squeeze tighter. Each brand has their purpose. With the Tinnerman, the threaded insert is perhaps better anchored, but I have not had any problems with the Monadnock style.
You MUST have an 8-32 tap to clean up the threads. I bought 6 and the screw would not go through any of them. Close inspection with a 10x loupe revealed very sloppy manufacturing: mashed threads, thick threads, etc. Once tapped they work fine.
Purchased more than 50 pieces to attach a couple of wing tip tanks. The parts arrived with a partial coating of what appeared to be grey primer. The parts looked like they were pulled off another aircraft. The 8-32 screws would not go into the nut more than one and a half turns before stopping. I returned the parts and the replacement shipment was in the same condition. Partially painted and the screws ( I tried several different 8-32 screws) would not thread into the nut more than 1 1/2 threads. I ended up running an 8-32 tap through each of the 50 pieces before they were usable. The tap removed significant metal and scale from the nuts threads. Never again.
